confusion on conversion from FCP through HVX

I shot and then edited a project in 720/24n. I now have to put it onto a miniDV tape, but am a little confused by the workflow. Do I need to put it onto a p2 card first or do I just hook up the camera to my computer via firewire and put it into dub mode? (not having to put it into p2 would be ideal)

Then ... how do I do the pulldown?
