Confused about VW-VBG6 and holder kit

I'm searching for the best price on the biggest battery for the HMC40, the VW-VBG6, and when I searched for it on Google there was a link to a page on B&H where it shows the battery as "no longer available", but also under the description it reads " Requires VW-VH04 Battery Pack Holder Kit".

So I looked up this holder kit and it has this description:

"The Panasonic VW-VH04-K Battery Pack Holder Kit is required in order to use the VW-VBG6 and VW-VBG260 lithium-ion battery packs. The kit allows you to connect your extended life battery pack to the following compatible Panasonic camcorders:"

And then it names a long list of camcorders, none of which is the HMC40. So my confusion is, do I really need a battery holder for this battery on the HMC40? Searching for "VW-VH04" or "battery holder" in the HMC40 manual doesn't show any matches, so I would guess not, but I wanted to post here just to double check.

I wonder why B&H lists it as "no longer available." I'd like to pick up a couple of these myself so I hope it's not discontinued.

I bought it from B&H a few days ago, I think they made a mistake in their listing and they have it listed twice, one as discontinued and the other as available.

While B&H is uber popular, I find that they rotate stock rather too quickly for my tastes. Seems like they are always out of stock of a particular item the exact time that I need to purchase one, lol. I also hate paying NY State Sales Tax so I always purchase from out of state stores like the afformentioned Spec Comm and TapeWorks Texas.
