Hi All...
was wondering:
what can the XM pilot do for me with the f3?
can i get liveview with it?
sony's website doesn't state that clearly, and it would be nice to
have that.
App is free, the wifi transmitter only 150dollars...
Anyone knows?
cheers

Here's what I understand to be true about the wifi transmitter, which I do not own...
*To use wifi you need the CBK-RGB01 upgrade, aka the "SLog 444" upgrade, which comes standard with newer F3 units.
*On the PMW-F3 there is no livestreaming, and probably isn't possible. The livestreaming is a feature of the 50Mbit proxy files or something, so it only works on the cameras that have that codec. Or something.
*Apparently you can use it to livetag footage with metadata markers, and I beleive you can change clip naming conventions. Not certain of exactly how this works.
*The app is for iPad, iPhone, and Android.
*However... the android app only works on Sony Experia tablets. Not HTC, not Samsung, nada. Just Sony.
*You can use at least some of the features through the XDCAM Browser I beleive.

Also... if you call Band Pro and talk to Sal Ortiz, ask about buying one on the year end clearance. My understanding is they'll sell it to you at cost - around $120. If it's available. And only through the end of 2012.
