Confused about syncro scan and shutter

I am preparing for a shoot tomorrow and maybe because of the stress that is causing, I am getting nervous about this:

Right now I am using Google, the search on this forum, the DVX-book and the manual. In my discomfort I seem to have lost my cool/calm and now I'm getting upset because I am disrupting my own mental preparation. The issue at hand:

I can't find the default shutterspeed that syncroscan is supposed to show before you start changing it. It sticks at where you left it the last time you were changing it. I think it is supposed to be 1/50.0. If I change it and give the DVX a hard reset, the syncroscan still stays at whatever I had set it at. So I want it back at default, but don't know and can't find that setting in my sources.

The last two weeks I have been shooting with the shutterbutton (the plastic one) at "not OFF". I think the setting at "SHUTTER OFF" would be have been 'normal' since I didn't need or want to use syncroscan or different shutterspeeds.

Right now I am sitting at the dinnertable (officialy finishing my shotlist for tomorrow, but actually making myself unsure about everything). I would really benefit form someone telling me something like:

Put the shutterspeed at OFF and don't worry about the rest since you're not using it. Or something like that.

I am using the DVX as a big learning experience, and I haven't come to the point of doing stuff with shutterspeed or syncroscan yet. And at this moment I don't want to be doing stuff like that. I want to have my camera ready and in default mode, so I can put it on scenefile F6 and work from there...

I have the DVX100 PAL version. No A or B.

Help?

Easy: set the shutter to "off" and don't even think about it again. Put the camera in 25p mode, and "shutter off" = 1/50, and that's what you want.

Don't worry about the syncro scan setting; I don't even know what the default even is, but it's irrelevant as syncro scan is supposed to be set according to your particular shooting circumstances.

For filmlike work on a PAL camera, set "progressive" to on, and turn the shutter off, and you're done.

Thank you very much, Barry!

This is the reassurance I hoped for and needed.

I've finished preparation and can go to bed without worries.

Groet,
Jasper
