Confused about P2 vs. Firestore... need advice

Adam, this shows how the Cineporter should work with the P2 slots:
http://www.spec-comm.com/cineporterdata.php

looks cool.. I'd shoot with that... but the dust door has to stay open?.. that blows.. maybe they can make a kit that you can replace the door with a modified one that shuts.. and a blank p2 slug to put in empty one... i heard that dust is the only kryponite that this camera has..

and there should be a power tap cable.. instead adding the extra weight and stress of a fully charged battery.. a tap from the cineporter to the camera's actual battery, a cradle that goes inbetween the camera battery and camera to draw power.. get the idea?

I resorted to buying two FS-100's for each one of the HVX-200's. We do a lot of Run-and-Gun and we need 'drive space' over 'time to drop footage on a laptop' in the field. I can do all that at night. (still looking for a good drive that I can dump my dailys on, and be able to transport around the world, that I will safe with when I get back to dump into my NLE) What I am wondering is, do the FS-100 come with the camera adaptor/holder for the drives that you see in all the pictures, or do you have to buy them separate? I can't seem to find anybody who are selling them at this time.

The Firestore FS-100 batteries are a hard thing to find right now. I'm in communication with the sales fellow at Focus and he promises me a way to get them by weeks end. As well, the guys at Spec-Comm are working on it too. If you just use their standard length battery, the camera mount is the same one as the FS-4, if using the new longer duration battery, they have a new cradle that will be introduced this Friday but when we can get it is another story. The camera cradle does not come with the FS-100, it has a belt clip. I receive mine tomorrow and will report back as soon as I figure the thing out. Until I get the camera mount I'll either belt it or pop it into a shooting vest pocket. Now keeping the camera end of the firewire connector in is another story.....some Gorilla tape in my future I see.

Can someone please answer these two questions:

I have a G4 Powerbook - Will the FS-100 or P2 Store have a problem with compression (An earlier post scared me). I am running FCP 5.1

Once the footage is recordered to the FS-100 or P2 Store, how does one get it into FCP?

Thanks for the info Don. I would like to hear about that set up when it comes out on Friday. If you know where to get some that are available, I would like to know.

In the mean time, I will just duck tape the drives to my head!

Do the FS100 and Cineporter mount onto the HVX200?

David,

Yes. The CinePorter™ will mount on the tripod mount under the camera. The FS-100 has a mount that will be available to mount on top of the camera by using the hot-shoe on the handle.

Best regards,
