Computer wont recognize DVX100A

I am running Windows XP and my computer doesnt want to recognize my new DVX100A. I tried the same card and firewire cable on another computer with a legit version of XP (home edition) and it still wont recognize the camera. Last month I had a GL2 and it worked perfectly fine.
Is there some sort of driver I have to download?
Does anyone think it could possibly be the firewire cable or card that is defective, maybe even the camera?
Do I have to do more than just connect the firewire cable to the camera and turn it on in order for the pc to recognize it?
Thanks...

"legit version of XP"?
???

Anyways, yes, you should just connect it and turn it on, you might also want to try to put it on VTR mode and see if anything happens.

I just went to Best Buy and bought a new Firewire cable and it fixed the problem, thank God!
