Computer Signal to Monitor

Alright not exactly about the camera but it is related. I am curious as to how folks are going to get a HD signal to their monitor aside from going through your camera. I know there are $1500 video cards that will enable me to do just this. But are thre any other options. I have a DV to anolog converter that I use for SD. But what now?

Not quite sure if this works, but most HD monitors will have a DVI in and most newer video cards have a DVI out, I would assume that would work.
