Computer Desk From A Light Stand???

Just moving into a new place and I'm thinking of making a computer desk out of a rolling combo stand.

I shot a fashion show a few years back at a photo studio, and the photographer had his monitor mounted to the stem of a rolling stand with a little hostess tray for the keyboard and mouse. Sounds simple enough, but I'm still intimidated to go off and DIY one just from memory.

I always thought that was a really cool idea, and I finally am moving into a place that has all the right features to use it. I have scoured the internet looking for photos of someone, anyone who has done something similar. But alas, I'm coming up empty. Anyone seen anything like this before or have any advice? Just hoping to find one reference photo so I don't go spending a million bucks on all the wrong grip gear.

You need a VESA mount for the monitor that terminates in a baby pin receptacle like this Matthews Monitor Mount. There are lots of them, but you can't find them unless you know what to call them. So there's a start.

Then you need an articulating keyboard tray pole mount.

Or something like this or this.

Don't forget to sandbag this thing -- you're going to create something that has a lot of weight off center, and will be "tippy" unless you rebalance it (with sandbags or some other way).

Bruce! Nice pull on the monitor mount! Wow are those keyboard mounts expensive, though. Might be biting off more than I can chew on this one.

On a furniture theme ...this is quite a recent post on the net.

Don't use a glass table for your edit system, or at least check the recommended supported weight, the iMac screen is smashed.
