Compressor making file 4x3 not 16x9

So I am trying to make a 16x9 dvd. I shot my footage on the Canon XH-A1 in 1080p24. So export my sequence by going export > using compressor > advanced format conversions (in the compressor pop-up) > HDV 1080i60

Then I open iDVD and choose 16x9 and make my dvd, that is ending up 4x3... Anyone know what I am doing wrong here? Or anyone with an A1 make 16x9 dvd's a different way using idvd?

I am not quite understanding your workflow. Are you exporting from FCP or Compressor as an HDV file?

If so, its not a great idea. Better to export as a .mov and make sure the settings are compatible with your timeline ("use current setting" is best). If you have compressor, don't you also have DVDSP? DVDSP would allow a lot greater control over formatting the dvd.

Here is my suggestion:

Going back to the basics, are your timeline settings in fcp correct? Command+0 to check them out. Make sure it is set to anamorphic. Then export a quicktime move using current settings. Then open .mov in Compressor and encode for the DVD using the 16:9 DVD 90 minute best quality setting. Then drag and drop the files into DVDSP.

Yeah, I was going straight from the FCP to compressor. I'll make a quicktime conversion using your directions above, thanks! I'll let you know how it turns out.
