Best Tripod Under $100

I've searched high and low for the best, most inexpensive tripod for my DVX, and can't find anything under $100. Does anyone have any ideas for a tripod I should be looking at?

You cannot find anything because there is nothing under $100. You just bought a $3,000 camera. Do you really want to but it on $100 sticks?

Spend the money up front. I started with a cheap tripod, quickly replaced it with something slightly more expensive, quickly replaced it with something a whole lot more expensive, and now am realising that this is not good enough. I should have just bought manfrotto at the start and saved myself a few hundred bucks in useless gear.

The only thing a sub-$100 tripod will be good for is keeping the camera still for interview shots, etc. If you want to perform acceptable pans, tilts, etc. you will need something a lot better (closer to $400+).

GO MANFROTTO! dont be cheap on such an essential accessory

I bought a 3 dollar one of Ebay, i know, im a horrible person.
If I need to use the pan/tilt function, ill borrow a Cartoni ;)

3 dollars?? rofl.

I laugh... but it's prolly some pissed off divorcee selling her hubby's old 5k tripod/head to punish him.

If your going to buy a 100 dollar tripod i would suggest buying ulisses base plate and maybe even a folding dolly for your tirpod to help keep the tripod sturdy incase the 100 dollar tripod is not be all that supportive.

Alright I get the point. So what kind of Manfrotto tripod should I be looking for? I'd like to spend between $200-250. Is that Possible?

These are mine. Sadly none available for less than 100.. The vinten is around 4K i believe. But it holds 350 lbs.

The one on the dolly is a miller, the one with my dvx is a manfrotto. Great set.

Nice lucidz... I also see you went ahead and got the panasonic vacuum attachment to go along with your DVX.

I bought a Velbon Videomate for $89 and it works great. Its really light, has a fluid head, and is definitely a good deal for the price. Three of the employees at the shop told me what a great tripod it was and that they had all been using it for years. Anyway, here's the link to it at B&H:

My only complaints are that the head and palate are made of plastic and the adjustment knobs need tightening before every use. But other than this, I think its a great tripod for under 100 bucks.

The only serious attempt for under $100, would be a decent monopod. There is one by Verizoom that doubles as a poorman's stedi cam, all for $150? Maybe a bit more.
