Compressor 4 and FCX

Hi

I have FCX (10.0.8) which seems to happily output to youtube vimeo, DVD etc IS there any advantage in buying the (inexpensive) Compressor 4?

What advantages are there in having COmpressor. As far as I can see it is only going to be of any use if I want to do non standard outputs.

I like it because it gives me vastly more control over the quality of my exports and it also lets me do batch conversions.

But, I agree, it doesn't seem to be as important now as it once was.

If those are the formats you are targetting then you probably don't need Compressor right now.

Definitely better than Compressor 3, simply for the ability to set a proper bitrate for MP4 encodes!

Yeah it's a steal for the price- but you'll know when you need it. One more thing to consider- FCPX renders completely via GPU while Compressor uses your CPU. So for example if you have an older Mac Pro with a fast CPU but a relatively low memory graphics card- say 512MB or under you'll get a boost out of Compressor rendering.
