Does anybody know if there is a way to change FINAL CUT PRO HD/4.5's capture presets to something similar to an uncompressed export setting?

To make sense, what I am asking is... is there is a way to capture MiniDV (DVX) footage into FCP uncompressed? Or is the Apple DV and DV/NTSC the highest quality capture setting for MiniDV footage.

Reelstream is not an option for me.

I believe miniDV footage is already compressed once on tape. It is uncompressed off the CCD of the camera but once the camera's software processes the footage, it is compressed and needs to do that in order to fit it onto the tiny 60 minute minidv tapes. Same is true for HDV footage. Same is true for the HVX's footage. There's always compression introduced somewhere. The signal (the one's and zero's) you get off the miniDV tape is the same 1's and 0's that FCP is going to read. So NO there isn't a higher quality way to capture the already compressed footage into FCP. :beer:
