Compression

I'm watching a lot of everyone's links to their films. I'm wondering the different kind of compression people are using. A lot of the films look very good and are large in size. I'm using Final Cut Pro HD and can't seem to find a compression that is larger than a tiny quicktime box but still keeps good quality other than DV stream or AVI which are huge file sizes. Are there third party programs out there dedicated to compressing projects for different uses (ie: internet, dvd, e-mail).
 
use sorenson squeeze 4 and use the 768k_stream, it comes with a ton of fast default reliable web formats. Quicktime is the way to go for me but sorenson has some pretty nice win media compression as well.
 
yessir...i also prefer sorenson ...but phloptik...where did u find sorenson squeeze 4...doesnt it cost $500USD? I'm using Sorenson Video 3 included with Premiere Pro 1.5 and it's worked quite well for me...also...H.264 is nice aswell...

but...im probably going to switch to mac and FCP on my next rig.
