Compressed Video Recorder (HDV, AVCHD, etc)

[chromeboy007]

With all the uncompressed or high bitrate compression external recorders out there, I wonder if any manufacturers have gone the other way and made external recorders using fairly compressed codecs such as AVCHD or HDV?

I have over 200GB's of P2 cards but for a long corporate presentation where you know a fat codec like DVCPROHD is really not needed. It is a waste of hard drive space.

I tried googling but nothing came up. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

I also once used a Sony MRC1K to record from my HVXs FireWire

You might think about simply switching to a camera which records to AVCHD.

There's also a Panasonic external AVCHD recorder, the HMR10.
