compositing in Avid

There's so many tutorials and articles on compositing in After Effects, and so little about doing the same in Avid. I realize Avid is an NLE and not ideal for compositing, but nevertheless there are a number of plug-in suites that allow for compositing (Sapphire, DFT 55mm) etc. Anyone know where to find a basic tutorial?

You'll have to look for a tutorial for each individual plug-in instead of a generic Avid one. Try to find a tutorial for Sapphire, etc. Stuff like that. I don't know of any general Avid tutorials on compositing since the built-in compositing stuff in Avid is generally not what people want to use. :)

When using a 3rd party plug-in it's not all that different from opening a completely new program akin to A.E. Some plug-ins work inside of Avid but offer their own interface (Boris's stuff for example). If you like working that way it saves a lot of time, but for some reason I really like taking stuff out of Avid and bringing it into a seperate compositor. Maybe it's because I just naturally think in a compartmentalized way.
