Composer wanted for feature film.

So here's the dealio.

I've been working on this feature for over 2 years now. We wrapped quickly, and I edited it quickly. It got sent off to a composer... (a young guy who was really good..) He had worked on set as a PA one night when I used one of his friends in the film as talent. He seemed like a nice guy and was eager to help. I gave him a ton of advice for his own film he was working on (over 3 years in the making.) He had recast it twice, and had all sorts of issues with it. I felt bad for him. He's an amazing composer.

Anyway, he agreed to compose my film for free. I sent him the rough cut, and he spit out a few pieces of music. It was really good stuff and I was excited.

A year goes by, and he just stops communicating with me. I send him messages and he doesn't respond. All the while he's posting pointless crap on facebook in the same breath.

Then he starts posting screengrabs and BTS stuff from his own film.. that looks like they were pulled straight from my film. Clearly, he was borrowing things he liked from my film and adding them to his.

I sent him message after message, as I had kickstarter investors waiting for a completed project. Actors waiting for footage.. I still had no completed movie due to unfinished score. Finally he responds asking for a deadline.. in which I replied "yesterday".

We settled on a deadline, and time passed... the deadline passed, and still no score.

I messaged him again, after a dozen or more unanswered attempts he finally responds that he isn't finished, and has no time for writing score anymore, and that he lost his house and all sorts of sob story stuff. All the while he's still posting pointless crap on facebook, and still working on his own movie, still stealing crap from mine. He backed out of my project, told me I could use what he had already done but that he couldn't actually send me any of it because he wasn't located where it was located so I got nothing but a reverbnation link with some mp3's on it.

I've messaged him a dozen times since then trying to get what he did complete, to no avail.. so I've basically cut my losses and ties with him. I don't know what to do about him stealing my ideas/scenes other than beating him to the punch and getting my movie out first. He claims his will be done by fall 2014 but I highly doubt it.

So, with all that being said. I need a composer. I'd love to stick with the theme the original composer had, so it needs to be someone who is at least as skilled as he was. I can send you links to show you whatr he had already done.

The Good: It's a feature film. One that already has distributor interest, and will surely get picked up.
The Bad: I am not in a position to pay you right now so any compensation would have to come on the back end.

I'm looking for someone who is wanting to get their feet wet and have a huge opportunity to get their music heard.

If you are interested, send an email to blackflightstudio@gmail.com

here's my website and you can see all of my work here: http://www.blackflightstudios.com

The movie I need a composer for is : THE LEGEND OF SEVEN TOE MAGGIE

Thanks!

Trailers are great.
I hope you find a good composer.
I really love to help you out but I'm just an cameraman/editor.
But perhaps you can find some score at PremiumBeat.com

If you pay nothing, have no contract, and no proper production schedule, it's a recipe for disasters like this. If somebody not getting paid wishes to post crap on Facebook instead if working on your project, then surely that's his right? Money, even a small amount, is essential if they don't know you well enough to consider you a friend.

If somebody really wishes to be involved, it's very obvious, but after a few unanswered mails you really should have dumped him and found another mug.

contracts even for no pay jobs focus the mind.
