Componet Out

DVCPRO HD-LP (optional) (1080/60i, 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 720/60P, 720/59.94P)

Those are the recording formats of the HD1200a...... if I go straight into this deck from the HVX-200 (though the component connection.) will it mark active frames or will it go in as strictly 720/60P with no chance of getting straight 24 out of it?

I believe component out will be 60P, no flagged frames.
You'll need to use firewire for that (I think..someone confirm??)

You don't want to go in through component, there will be no marking of frames.

Go in through firewire instead (the 1200 requires an optional firewire board to do that). If you go through firewire you'll avoid the digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital conversion step, and you'll preserve the frame flags and everything else.

okay... thanks... question resolved in a matter of minutes... the only reason I wanted to go Componet was because it would use locking BNC connections..... but then again I guess it could come un-done at the camera on the D connector..... that's if it's like my Consumer camera, Sony DCR-HC20, which doesn't lock on the D connector.

I have another question concerning the HD1200A..... What is the difference between HD-LP and normal HD... will the LP format add any compression ? I'm assuming it's 9 Micron for LP and 18 for normal HD..... what exactly are these Microns?

Also, can I use the HP126EXG (Extra Large DVCPRO HD Tape) with the HD1200A?

Edit- Answered my own question to the Microns - Distance ..... but I still need help with the difference between LP and HD, will LP (I know it means Long Play) cause any loss of quality?
