Good Morning,
I just received my new HPX170 a couple days ago, and have been loving it. I am new to serious videorecording and HD, so I am devouring the manual and Barry's excellent book. I only have one problem so far. After doing some forum searches on my issue, I have not found anythng specific to my trouble, so I thought I would share it here, and perhaps someone has had the same issue, or knows of a solution, or maybe my camera is just not right.
The Component Video Out port on my camera is loose. I have had $200 camcorders with tighter ports than this one. I was quite surprised by all the play in the connector once the cable is connected. The supplied D-type cable fits in perfectly, but the cable can wiggle some, and it feels loose in the videocamera casing. I use external monitors a lot, so I can see this quickly becoming an issue. I found an article by Ken Stone that indicates this port was actually upgraded from the even worse-off D4 port that the 200 uses.
So my question, is this play in this connector a known issue on the 170, or does it sound like my camera may have a problem?
