I had some bad surprises the other day when recording dancers in an all white and lit studio for a training movie.
I monitored the shots through component out to the Panny 17" (720) HD monitor.
As I'm in PAL land, it was shot in 1080 and the monitor was set accordingly.
The monitor is set up
In the studio all whites were white. (Hooray!)
Back in my editing room with the same monitor but watched through SDI and FCP, the whites looked... all but white. (OK not far off, just too far off)
It was fixable, but quite annoying.
Is there a different calibration for the component and SDI inputs?
Or am I just overlooking some big issue here which I'm too dumb to understand? (I can live with that, as long as I don't keep on doing it)
Basically: Is the component out on the HVX crappy, or am I?
