The D4 component connector to RCA is disappointing for me... the D4 is a very loose and unrelieble connection and the RCA's mean using a BNC adaptor to run my Marshall monitor. It would be nice if there was a break-out box or modification to the D4 connector. Has anyone developed or seen such a thing?

You could always cut off the RCA connectors and crimp on a set of BNC connectors, and maybe shorten the whole cable in the process. A shorter cable would mean less mass and less of a chance of the D4 terminal disconnecting.
The cable assembly is the same as what Canon supplies as the DTC-1000 with several as their HDV cameras. You can get a spare/replacement from Abel Cine and other sources.
