Complete loss of control of my focus and iris control on my HXV200 (manual mode)

Today I was shooting interviews with my almost 4 year old HVX200P, and all of a sudden the iris (in manual mode) opened totally up, blasting out the picture. I turned off the camera, and when it came back on, I once again had full control of the iris, only 15 seconds later, it went back to having no control, I also noticed that I lost control of my manual focus as well.

I have searched the forums, and have found nothing relating to this, I have called Panasonic, still waiting on a call in the next 24-48 hours, has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Thanks so much for your help!

Since you said you cam was 4 years old it could be a worn contact on the iris control wheel. I have had the same thing happen on a DVC30. Not sure what the focus issue could be.

I lose control of the iris and focus at the same time, I have tried to "reset" the camera plenty of times now, once again, things are normal for about 15 seconds then it goes crazy again.

Do you remember what exactly was the problem?

Don't remember, but they had to replace the lens assembly. I recall its was around $1200.
Give spec com a call. They are very good to work with.

No ! I'm having this problem also ! Not every 15 secs. but it has done it a few times now after the camera has been on for more than an hour the iris starts adjusting by itself in manual mode as if it were in auto mode. The adjustment is subtle but noticeable. Havn't had a problem with the focus just iris. My 200 is approaching 1000 hrs. of use. Now I'm worried my camera could get worse, and Panasonic has no answer for this ? Unless its a defect, sounds like us owners are going to have to pay to fix the problem.
