Compatible USB drives to transfer direct from HPX-170

I'm looking for a compatible USB hard drive to transfer from HPX-170 in field without CPU. I used to do this with an old LaCie Quadra USB 2 500 gig and a HPX-200 and both were sold years ago. I tested a new LaCie Quadra 3.0 3 TB drive today and could not get the HPX-170 to connect.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
It can't just be a regular hard drive. It has to be a smart drive, or an "on-the-go" drive, with a built-in controller. The camera can't do it.
 
Thanks to TapeWorks Texas and Panasonic Rep contacting me this morning we found a solution. Seems the HPX-200 did use a USB 2 protocol to transfer to USB drive, however the HPX-170 use a the 1394 protocol. A trip to Frys to purchase a Firewire 800 9-pin to 6-Pin cable fixed the problem. Also you need to select a 1394 host option in the menu and your ready to control the functionality of the external hard-drive in the field.

The drive cannot be powered by the cam. You can use either USB or FireWire. And yes you must select the host option.
