GH4 Comparing 4K to 1080 paths

Hi Guys. I just imported two video clips into photoshop timeline in order to do a quick comparison between 4K 100 mb/s downsized to 1080 and 1080 100 mb/s native from camera.
The 4K was reduced using Bicubic Sharper. No comparison, 4K source wins hands down. I know the 1080 in camera is also derived from the 4K sensor info but it does not seem to be
handled as well as the in post reduction method. The 4K to 1080 downsized clip still has that detailed 4K quality, while the 1080 camera file is pretty soft by comparison.
I've tried a few different setups and the results are always in favour of 4K to 1080 in post. I'll try doing the same with more motion to see if the HD 100mb/s compresses more efficiently. But I doubt it.

Anyone else gone into this. Results?

The 1080p in the GH4 is a pixel-skipped situation, which leads to moire and other complications. No doubt the 4K downconverted in post would yield sharper, cleaner, better results with likely less noise too.
