Companion to HPX170 what should I use?

My main Cam for weddings is the HPX170. I need a better B and C camera to accompany it. I want something that will match colors well in camera. I was thinking HVX200, HMC40, or HMC150. Any opinions?

I can't imagine any of the three you mentioned have much of a future in the Panasonic product line. "Better," IMHO, would be moving up to the AC130/160, while the new AC90 looks interesting at a lower price point.

I have used a hmc40 for a b-cam to a hpx170 for quite some time and has surprised me what a good match I can get. While the HMC40 might be soon replaced, it is still a great stealth cam with great ability. In fact, it is sharper than a 170. The compressed avchd codec won't grade as well and is easier to defeat with motion. The 1/4" chips aren't as good in low light. Having said all that, The 40 is a little cam that can creaet some great images and matches up better than expected with a 170.

Why not pick up a used HPX170 for a perfect match. I have seen some low hours ones listed here in excellent shape for under $2500 as well as used 16GB P2 cards for under $200. This way you could keep your workflow uniform.

Not a bad thought by Mark, but the one thing the HMC40 offers is really small and light. It is really stealthy, not quite like a consumer cam, but nothing like a 170. Seems like the new AC90 is going to be a bit bigger. Maybe Barry could chime in on the size; I know he has used the hmc40.

AC90 is about 11 inches, front of lens hood to back of body (not including EVF). And about six inches tall, from bottom plate to top of (non-removable) handle.
