Compact tripod for HMC150

Hey guys,

What are the available compact tripods good enough for HMC150?

I need something light enough to be attached outside a backpack.

Current I use he Libec ls-22 as my main tripod.

Thanks!

I think the one by Tiffen is a pretty decent compact tripod. Its able to support the 150 and its a good price at around 200 bucks. YOU can also go with the 100 dollar velbone which is very lightweight.

I use a set of Feisol 3441 Carbon fiber legs only 2lbs in weight... just need to find a comparable lightweight head..

I have a Manfrotto CX193 which is a relatively small and lightweight carbon fiber tripod. It's paired with a 503HDV head that I swap out with larger studio legs. I've also got a Monostat carbon fiber monopod when I want to go even lighter. I might look into getting a smaller head like the 501HDV.

I have a Slik 504 QF II that I bought to use with my HV30. It fits fine on the outside of a backpack, and I use it for that purpose with the HMC150. The problem is that despite the fact that its rated for a max. of 11 lbs, its difficult to pan smoothly with the HMC150 on it, although with some care I can sometimes get some reasonable pans.

Bottom line: It works just fine for the HV30, but its a bit too small and light to be considered a good compact tripod for the HMC150.

190CX3 with a 701HDV

Only problem is I've never seen them for sale together. Run you like $360.
