Commercial

I'm shooting a spec commercial tomorrow. I don't necessarily want a cinematic look, and I want motions to be smooth. If my options are 24p, 30p, and 60i, what would the most logical setting be? I'm leaning toward 30p, but I'm not quite sure.

The motions really need to look good because my actor is extremely physical and tends to do spazzy movements.

Thank you

Usually, you find out what format you need to deliver in, and then shoot to facilitate that. However, seeing as this is a spec commercial, it's not quite that simple.

I would just think about how it would most likely be used. HDTV? 60i or 60p, depending on res. SDTV? 60i. Web? Whatever you want. If it's web, and you want smooth motion, I'd personally shoot 720p/60p. It's got all the benefits of progressive, and it's nice and smooth. 60fps is also the usual thing for broadcasted 720p HDTV, at least here in America.

I think.
