This is for a contest for Big Rock brewery's "Eddies".

Now I'm thirsty.

It starts like it's supposed to be a little cheeseball, then you see the ending and it's all worth it. I liked it.

Footage looked real good. The one major thing that I might comment on is the sound of the opening shots. It seemed a little 'echoey', which makes me think amateur. The closing shot of the barmaid sounded better.

Oh, and needs more extras. Who wants to advertise an empty bar?

This looks really good... How did you pull this from the HMC?

Every time I film anything weather in good light or anything the footage looks a little grainy and slightly blurred. No matter how you focus or what
scene files you use.

It looks like this one the camera when hooked up to an HD monitor gets worse when I import it in to FCP.

Detail: - 3

Master Ped -11

Matrix: Cine-like

Black balance whenever cam is powered back on. But basically this is fairly low noise with a fairly wide dynamic range.

Sound guy had issues (settings) with his equipment for that shot, which happened to be the first of the day, and failed to tell anyone till after the shoot.

Fickle town, getting extras was like pulling teeth. Wanted a crowded bar.. oh well. We're among the 18 finalists so we'll see in June.

liked it except for the two super quick fade transitions, it would look better with just a cut to the other shot imo.

I just tweaked my settings to this earlier yesterday. I haven't tried it yet but if those settings gave you that good look I hope it works out for my HMC

That look from the camera was much flatter than you see, with a wider dynamic range. The overall look was then done in post. Shooting "flat" allows you more options.

Yeah I understand that. I'm going to grade after I shoot, When I shoot flat before tweaking settings I was getting a clear image but a lot of noise in darker areas. I'm going to be doing some tests and filming later on tomorrow and friday.

Here's how to reduce noise.

With your master ped at 0, Do the following.

  • Close your iris fully.
  • Turn on wave form monitor.
  • Notice almost solid black line at bottom? It will seem noisey.
  • ABB (black balance the cam). The line will likely get a tad less nosiey. (shows importance of ABB after a power up).
  • Lower your Master Ped till the line looks the most solid.
Also, keep you coring up around +3 or so.

I'll do that.

Right now my settings are

Master Ped -11
Detail -3
V Detail -3
Detail Corning +4
Cine-like

I black balance right after I turn the camera on, I white balance, and use a grey card for exposure. I don't seem to have much noise with these but they haven't been field tested yet.

I would leave vertical detailing at 0 as it throws things out of "balance". You really just want to use detail.
