Hey, I shot this commercial entry a few weeks ago. I haven't really used the dvx that much. Just got it a few months ago.
I still have a lot of learning to do and am reading through the dvx100 book again for the second time and taking in a lot more of it this time.

Sorry for the youtube quality but I am in the finals of this contest and can't post a higher rez version until it is over. Also feel free to vote for me if you like it!

Mine is the "Open a Pom Fresh Pomegranate with Science" video.

pretty long commercial. IMO it wud be better to cut alot of "stuff" from it and make it short and the "punch line" parts come faster. wud make it funnierand pacing better. just my opinion. Also the lighting is a bit off...its quite harsh in the opening shot casting undersirable shadows on the actors face andthe image is flat (meaning he looks like he's one witht he background. play with contrast with ur background . also watch ur light levels with ur zebra stripes...overexposing.

Aight so now to good stuff...cant have bad without good right :) I like the story line. it has funy points and the actor is cheesy with the smile and all. A good thing here. Liked the lighting shot.

So basically cut out some of the fluff throw in some smartly placed jump cuts and yep!

edit: Oh and if u were using worklights that caused the harshness u can throw on some parchment paper or baking sheets (i duno if its the same thing) to soften it a bit and back up the light. u can also fashion some ghetto style barn doors out of foil to SOMEWHAT control spill. use foil cuz it wont go up in flames. if ur not using worklights forget what i just said :D

so i watched some of the others...and i guess all of them are suppose to be that long...urs is actually on the shorter end:) so forget what i said refgarding that :D

Yeah I am really trying to figure out the work lights. I'll definitely try putting some foil and parchment paper on the lights. What I currently do is bounce the light off the ceiling but as you said it ends up looking flat.
I'm looking into buying some china balls after reading such great things about them.

Thanks for the critique!
