well, I finally have what I wanted in the first place.
my friend gave me a file from Motion of a drop of water falling.
I took that and tweaked the logo in vegas with 3D source alpha. (really simple!)
I had no idea about the 3D source alpha function until today. Man, I'm going to be using that a whole lot more in the future.
well here's the updated clip, let me know what ya'll think.

That looks really cool. But not sure about the gradient "sky" . When you pan up is there any reason to have the horizon? Why not just keep everything white? That's the only thing. Everything else looked great!

yeah i agree with the "sky".
i have the drop cropped so when it pans up, it will leave a large blank space. maybe I should just make something in photoshop so it will stay white/grey.

I hate to disagree with the Master Monk, but I like the "horizon" when it pans up. Overall I think this is a very good logo...definitely much better than the original.

looks really good, but when did you decide to drop the water (flood) flowing up or down?

it just seemed like i had too much cool stuff just for the sake of having cool stuff, know what i mean? i wanted more simplicity i guess...

Really cool idea. I'm nobody but, here's my opinion anyway (because I love observing and stuff)...
I like the drop, I also like drama. I could see that slowed down even more (I guess it all depends on the audio that's going along with it though).
I personally like the horizon.
IMO the color comes too sudden. I'm just expressing the opinion of a drama queen but,
It would be more intense IMO, if the rings from the drop hung around longer, slow down, and then the color the fills "flood", starts sooner. Like, there's already a pool
starting at the bottom as soon as the word shows.
Never "just grey", not for a second.
Never "just" white or just grey, or just white with black rings, or still drops, or pauses inbetween actions. Always constant contrast, constant motion within the motion. That's my opinion.
