Coming for You - Short

A small short I DPed for a friend of mine.

This was originally shot as a music video, but for some reason the band didn't want it so the in-camera audio was used and some ambient sound put on it.

The last shot needs some CG-birds taking off the roof as the shot is heard. The director was aiming for a look with the highlights blown-out, colours washed out and the in and out of focus look.

Hope you like it. Right-click - save as - approx. 8.5 meg WMV.

Oh - and you better not say bad things about the actress - she's my girlfriend ;-)

Tackling something with a sci-fi feel to it is hard. Looks like you did a pretty good job with the sets. Did you have some package cartons on the walls? if not those work nice to give a space ship interior look. The weird thing is that I did not have any sound on my end. I'll try to give it another download.

No problem dude - I was seriously wondering if you were under the influence with that first post ;-)

hey tlorenzo,
great job on the dp work and treatments. very much my style of looseness, theme and composition. Doesnt seem like a lot of people here has the same taste, There is a great short called Life Against Memory. google it, its really something you'd enjoy. its one of my favourite shorts.
Question. What camera settings or about did u use, and wat exactly was your post-production process, please?
thanks man nice work

Thanks for the kind words Bezakor. The camera settings were pretty much standard out-of-the-box settings on the DVX. We shot this in 25p cine. I'm quite sure the whole thing went through magic-bullet in the end, but I'll ask the director/editor about the post-production process - he did all the editing and cc work in FCP and Shake.

Look really great, Nice short.

Sometimes the best stuff comes out of situations like this. The in-camera audio works perfectly for this piece.
