Comedy War footage

If it stops halfway through, the same thing happens to me. The file is only 37mb, maybe the site is just crammed. Try back another time? Leave some feedback on what you thought.

aw crap, just right after the explosion, doesn't go no more...

those bullet are so slow... i could dodge it twice.

The good: You're out there shooting, you got the money to buy a dvx somehow

The bad: Overexposed, dirty heads, camera on auto expose?, not the best looking explosions, and the location doesn't really fit the setting - seeing as this is taking place in Vietnam, it should be a jungle, with fields... ya know?

However, I assume you're just doing this to play around with the new camera, like you said, no script or lighting so good job, keep doing what you like to do and don't let anybody stop ya man

Well, I have a solution to the "bad" you mentioned.

1. The overexposure was done intentionally, the original footage was exposed perfectly, I pumped it up in post

2. The heads arent dirty, I was using an old tape which I had recorded over several times before (frame droppout).

3. The location was intentionally in the desert. The story of movie is that an old ex-marine over the years is gradually going insane and losing his memories of what actually happened. So at several points (like the one you saw) he mixes up with other events. At even though he never fought in WW2. The whole movie is told through a narrative style "flashback" style. Ill post the finished film when its done, it will be much easier to watch than have me explain.

I'm sorry, but where was the comedy? Show me the funny. And I'm hoping the "he mixes up events" will explain why a Vietnamese soldier is wearing a turbin?

The editing was ok and there were some good shots in this, but I beg you to work harder on the explosions. Place some motion keyframes, so the motion of the explosion matches the camera motion of the foreground. They look like the free ones you can download at Detonation Films, right? It is possible to get some clean keys from their stuff. I've used them a few times.

Once again, there were some good shots and, although slow, it was paced fairly well. Good luck!

You say in your original post that you had no script, yet just a few posts above you say this is all part of some flashback where one of the characters is retelling (mistelling, rather) one of his accounts. Am I missing something here? You obviously have some idea of a story, so I would assume that means you have some kind of script (no script would mean you just had an idea to go out an shoot some soldiers in the desert, but it seems that is not the case).

this was just practicing i guess, you know keep doing your stuff and you'll get better at it.

maybe you should just get rid of the horrible explosions and the stupid bullets in the begin titles. but if i look back and **** i made 2 years ago when i was 19 that was horrible too cause we just started out with it

Well, we had an idea, but by no means was it a "script." The idea is that everything this man remembers is wrong, so yes that is why he is wearing a turbin (and also a mask, and also why its in the desert instead of the jungle.) Your absolutely right, the explosions suck..haha, I composited them in about 10 minutes. Thanks for the feedback.
