This is a comedy short I wrote, directed, DP'd, and edited, using the LT! Disclaimer that really this video focuses more on the comedy and performance and is not a technical showcase of the LT by any means, but I'm very proud of how it turned out.

It was all filmed on a Zeiss 35mm zf.2. Lit with Kino Flo 4x4s supplementing the window daylight. I was doing everything on the shoot myself, so there are occasional moments of missed critical focus, but I still used those takes in certain places because I preferred the performance to the one that was tac sharp. I shot in 4k, finished in 2k. It was a time crunch, so the casting assistant was only shot in her medium wide and I punched in 150% in the 2k timeline for her mediums. Those reframes held up really well to my eyes (minus when my focus was slightly soft to begin with). All of the angles for the woman auditioning were shot as-is in camera, minus 1 or 2 quick shots I punched in because I liked the performance of the take but wanted a tighter framing.

(I know there's a gallery section here on dvx, but I don't think many people look there? Happy to move it if this isn't the place.)

Very funny. You have captured the anxious hellscape that auditions truly are. Nice going. Excellent performances.

Looked great. The punch ins worked fine. I thought the lighting looked great. I love shooting with 4 banks. You can really get the light to just land. The varicam color is so good. Congrats

Thanks! Video652 - Something I gave special attention to on this short was color palette for wardrobe. It's not something I'm typically able to control much as they're unpaid projects where actors (are kind enough to) bring some options from their closets, and I'm then just picking what best fits the situation and character first, with color coming second. For me, I think it really added a lot to the look in addition to location and lighting. Obviously all pros already get that and it's taken great care of on a professional project with dedicated roles, but until I find myself in a position to work with art department/hair&makeup/wardrobe/etc, I'm going to make a real effort to elevate those choices in my decision making.

well executued. And I agree with the comment on colors and your response on waredrobe. Much of the highly sought after 'cinematic' look isn't the camera system (what all youtubers think). It's decisions in waredrobe and location and lighting. Good job!
