Columbia Journalism School's "Centennial Film"

Really nice. Great single source lighting. I wonder what the source was. The use of the profile shot seems less self-conscious then it usually looks to me. Great editing. AF-100 looks good here.

I love the grey backdrop to the interviews - the texture is lovely - what did you use for that? Nice work - the 101 looking great..Sparky

Compelling, interesting and the portrait photographic style was refreshing, unique for the genre and very well done.

Thanks Gentleman.

As with most my work, this was a team effort, & I was not responsible for the editing, or any post.

This is a formula we use often, in no small part due to limited time, & locations.

The lighting is two diffused Diva 400s formed into a rectangular shape, & the backgrounds are "Thunder Grey" seamless.

Bern, how are the Divas in a rectangular shape? Like at 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock forming a right angle?

Love the Thunder Grey look- nice choice.

Splendid work

Curious, is this straight in-cam AVCHD or an external recorder? What kind of lensing? Looks somehow more detailed or textured or such than I've ever achieved

Divas are mounted vertically, angled down, & placed directly next to each other, much like a super-shallow soft box.

One camera was lensed only with Canon's 24-105/4, while the other used Nikon's 24-70/2.8, & Lumix 14-140.

Recorded in AVCHD using AbleCine's "Range" scene file, & white balanced with an ExpoDisc.

Nothing fancy.

Just a shoutout about the fantastic audio quality and musical treatment. Micing is excellent and mix is nothing short of perfect. BRAVO!

This looks really good. Quick question - what size background did you use for this? I'm going for a similar approach, but need to be traveling around the country with the set up. Just wondering if getting the 4.5 ft wide backdrop is wide enough to get the same size as on the Malcolm Gladwell wider shot for example. Any help is appreciated.
