Colour Grading Examples:

that's very nice, i'm pretty new to color grading, have you any tips on how to appoach the subjet? I'm just starting with fcp.

Wow that footage looked really nice and crisp. The different styles all looked really nice and I'm interested in know what program was used to do this.

Yes me too did you have any filters in front of the lense or was this all done in Post with Magic Bullet or something else....?

I have a question. When the camera begins on the darkness and pans to the side. Does anyone notice the artifcats in the black area. Thats what I have been trying to express to you guys about the problems i see in my footage.

I know what you're talking about. It's in everybody's footage. Some see it, some don't. Go check in the FOREVER music video, it's there as well. The HVX produces this and I doubt there's any way to avoid this.

It's all in my DVCproHD files.

The footage was made for a University's in-house television station. I was hired to make the opening for the program... I will post a final up here soon.

The footage was shot flat, as i knew i would be grading in post. 60P: 720 24pn,CineD, MAST PED -1, detail +3, reg matrix.

I use After Effects for all my grading/timing, i get the most flexibility in there. When completing a program in FCP, i use Automatic Duck to transfer the timeline into AE and work on it there.

If you are seeing artifacts in the blacks, its due to the compression. I used sorenson 3 to compress the video (preserves color and detail better than H264 IMHO, bigger file tho).

Thanks for the settings. I will try After Effects for CCing/grading. I have it, just dun use it much at all.

wow, that heaven one was something else.

care to elaborate on that one in specific?

I watched the FOREVER video and didnt really see the compression. Will adding more light avoid this?
