colour EVF

I understand that the standard EVF as well as the optional 16:9 (is this only difference aside that the housing is from metal) are both B&W. My question is that if I buy a third party colour EVF and connect it to the HPX will it work??? In other words is the signal coming from the HPX B&W only????? or full colour and is just the EVF B&W ????

The HPX500's viewfinder output port is, as far as I know, black & white and SD-only. If you want an HD/color VF on an HPX500, Hunter's suggestion is probably the only way.

how is the standard EVF of the HPX500 compared to the one of the HVX200? I know 2 camera's from a different leauge but anyway.

No standard-def display is adequate for pulling HD focus. The CRT is much better than the HVX display as a standard-def display, no doubt -- but it's still a standard-def display, and you still need to rely on functions like peaking and the focus assist to know that you're getting proper/adequate focus.

With the 500 I use the BT-LH80, which is far superior than any EVF for showing you exactly what's in focus on a pixel-for-pixel basis along with its superb focus-in-red feature.

Actually I have found that the focus in red feature isn't so superb. When on the long end of the lens at critical focus range, it will show it to be in focus using "focus in red" yet it can be slightly off, and slightly off at critical focus is a very bad thing.

so be warned; when at critical focus us pixle to pixle rather than focus in red.

yes, I own the LH80 and like it a lot.

I always use both. Pixel to pixel, then pop the focus-in-red on & off for double-checking. For quick setups nothing beats focus-in-red, but for ultimate critical usage, use both.

If you look at my - a couple of quick grabs thread, this is from a doc I am shooting and these shots are all shoulder mounted using the SD evf for focus, for tripod shots Im using the LH80, but its not very practical off the shoulder, but IMO these are spot on. I always have peaking at max.

any idea what the accuscene costs, couldn;t find.
Someone using it?
could it be a solution, for run and gun shooting?
