Colortran used to be a stage lighting company but was bought by Leviton when they wanted to offer a dmx control line for their products. They discontinued all the stage lighting and just kept the controls. Now all you can find is used offerings for Colortran fixtures. Those two you mentioned, using the 650w are tungsten.
The 650w is the real clue as there is no HMI / metal halide offering in that range. So you can expect them to be 3200K color temperature and anything else requires gels for correction and therefore loss of light. Hope this helps.
Actually, Colortran was a film AND stage lighting company. In the mid 60's, they were the one of the few companies making "lightweight quartz lights".
Inexpensive open face units with a good fucus range and unique "spring attached" barn doors. I still have an old 500w multi broad from that era...it's satin finish reflector puts out a really sweet light.
Today, the multi beam 650 (in good shape) is a great deal for a controlable lighting unit; great starter lights and miles better than a Home Depot worklight solution.
Hope this helps.
