Colorista

before Christmas I had some support questions that Red Giant did not answer. I had the same window resize problem, and I thought that the flowerdefocus mov, (in their demo package) was misleading as to what colorista does. They did not respond to my emails; however they read this forum and they sent me a few emails to ask me what were the problems...I thought great, I'll get some kind of personal help finally. BUT NO RESPONSE AGAIN for a week. In the meantime, I finished my project and went on vacation. Finally, they did respond, but basically they just said if I was not happy they would refund my money. What a disapointment! I have spent a lot of time suggesting that colorista was really great, and all I get was a minute of their time and no technical help, or suggestions, or apology. When we use a tool like this, we need technical support. Especially at this early stage of development. So you guys at Red Giant, I'm sure you will take the time to read this forum, even if you don't bother to spend the time to back up your software...you should think about this forum as a one of the most important advertising outlets for your product...

FCP starts to load, but doesn't make it past the splash screen. Uninstall the plugin and all is well. I also tried the Motion plugin and it crashes FCP!!! Motion will run, but when you try to apply Colorista it crashes as well. I'm not the only one with this problem see NoahK's post re: his Mac Book Pro.
You need to trash your preferences. It should work then. Download FCP Rescue 5 and after you get FCP back up and setup the way you want with your favorites, etc., run FCP Rescue 5 so you won't have to do it again if you are forced to trash your preferences.

Blaine, thanks for the quick post but it didn't work :(

Same result even after trashing prefs (I've been using FCP Rescue since v4 great app).

Been using Colorista now for several projects with NO problems.

As farr as window resizing, I just got to a different window config as a preset.

Works great.

Monitor Calibration...your setup

Monitor Calibration...your setup

Monitor Calibration.
What is everyone using to calibrate their monitor and setup as this is critical for accurate CC. Thoughts....

the monitor is the real issue. Actually not just the monitor calibration, but which monitor to use? Ultimately you need a CRT broadcast monitor to take serious use of a color correction program. I have an apple studio display, and a small sony CRT screen, but neither are a good enough solution. The apple screen looks great and is a good mate to FCP, but it's no good if you are trying to output to TV.

Very similar to my setup, I am delivering the show to both the web and to NTSC. Just wondering the best way to calibrate the Studio Display for true web CC.

thats exactly what I was wondering. If anybody want to make up a screen calibration and post it....please/ please//

You do know that there's a NEW version of FCP Rescue for v.5 and later, right? FCP Rescue 4 will do nothing at all with a v.5 FCP system. FYI...

Are people happy with the CC they are getting from Colorista?
I'm looking at buying it, but want to make sure it works well.

Taylor I too am curious about this product but I think it might be best if you start another thread.

Just a thought...

taylor, it's really good if you want to make masks, or if you want to do cc using the same 3 wheel system as pro colorists. Personally, the mask function is what makes it worth the money.
