colorchecker chart: not mentioned much?

Strange, the Gretag Macbeth chart seems like it would be quite useful, but all my DV books that discuss color correction don't mention it. It's also not in the index of the "Color Correction for Digital Video" book, as shown on Amazon. Is it considered less essential than other tools?

Re: colorchecker chart: not mentioned much?

That's something that has always troubled me as well. I find the color chart to be one of the most useful accessories. It makes matching footage in post a breeze and gives you a great starting point for color grading.

Is the Mini reallly as useful as the full-size? They're almost the same price.

Yes, Michael. It was your article that got me thinking about it! I just wonder why the color correction books and DVD tutorials overlook it. (I wrote and asked one author, but he didn't reply.)

Re: colorchecker chart: not mentioned much?

ok i am a total novice at color correction. i have bought a bunch of books but i'm still pretty lost.

can you recommend ONE book to get started?

and i have been eyeing that chart, would that chart work just as well with premiere?

i mean i assume avid has more advanced tools but premiere's color correction tools must be similar?

i read that article but if someone could write a step by step tutorial on using that chart with premiere pro i would be eternally grateful!!!

also, how would color correcting using that chart alter things like having used colored filters for the shot, or doing things like tweaking the white balance by using a ctb 1/2?
