About a month ago, i posted a short i did in my dvx. I had posted it in black and white. I decided to put the COLOR version of this short on this site. Basically i need your opinions. Which do u like better the color version or the black and white version. I am not looking for coments on the structure, composition or editing. Im sipmply looking for coments on the visual make up beteween black/white photography and color photography. If u guys have any coments, please post them thanks.
**When going to the color version, after accessing the hosting site, please change the "view width" to 320 and NOT 480. Thanks

I like the color version.

I do really like the style of this piece. Know you don't want to hear that, but something about this gets me.

I'd like to see a third version... use the black and white as a flash in some of the longer held shots. Might be over the top, but who cares. The black and white was a cool effect, but for me it got old quick. The colorizing you used in the color version is great.

Hope you don't mind, I'm going to use that sometime.

I liked both. But the color version seemed to move along better than the black and white.
Maybe the music helped my choice for that, but it seemed the man's wandering was the focus of the color one and the bridge/piano was more the focus of the black and white one.
Cool either way you slice it.

I preferred the colorized version more because it gave a cooler washed look.
The black and white was really great for looking at the skyline and the bridge, but didn't seem to give enough to the walking man footage.

That's all I have, I think. Thanks for posted you stuff. Enjoyed it.

Both videos are really cool! I can't decide which one I like better. I don't know if the music change made the color one flow better.

By the way, how on earth did you do that B&W look? I don't have a dvx myself but I'm looking to do a similar effect on an upcoming shoot when I rent the dvx. What settings did you use? Was the B&W done in post or in camera?

"no. did not use any filters. Shot at 1/1000 shutter speed in color and played around with b&w, saturation levels in FCP."

This was from an earlier thread on the B&W video. Search above for a few pages on it.
