color shift in the shadows

has anyone seen a color shift in the shadows of dvx100 when subject is backlit or strong contrast from direct sun outdoors to shadows? I am experiencing a blue/green color fluctuation in shadows and can't figure out if it is a auto white balance problem (it is switched off in the menu) or if the camera is malfunctioning. Basically the shadow blacks are not true black and fluctuate blue/green. I use the camera professionally for broadcast ntsc and experience the problem on occasion. this happens in the 24p adv mode. I've experienced this with and without a polarizer.

You could have your sharpness set up too high, or it could be an issue with your lights (are they fluoros?) OR it could be a black balance issue? idk, I'm not clear on what your problem is but I'm guessing it's a diffusion of color from high to low contrast areas

I don't get it indoors just outside. I'll look at the sharpness, I think it may be the black balance. However, the problem is if you look at the different gradations of shadow in diffused, not direct sunlight, like in the shadow of a building or tree the color constantly changes in the shadows from frame to frame and it varies from black to blue or greenish black. it only happens when there is shadows and direct light in the frame at the same time. It also happens with a polarizer when I shoot in indirect sunlight. It's really wierd and not consistant. I haven't messed with the black balance much. Do you always set your black balance before shooting?

Even with a perfect WB setting (highlights and lowlights) you wil get the bluish shadows on sunny days, simply because the lightsource for the shadow parts is blue: not the sun, but the blue sky! The sunlit parts get their light straight from the sun radiation and this is "daylight" 5600degK and up.
