FS5: Color Science Help

I am looking to subtract a subtle amount of Magenta from the FS5 Matrix. NB this is not for Slog2 or 3

As 'The Color Phase' adjusts the color hue i.e -7 (Greenish) to +7 (Reddish) Because this effects all colors, it is difficult to make specific adjustments. i have a few picture profile recommendations to set the Hue to a + value for more accurate colors. But i still find a slight minute amount of that Sony matrix i want to change my reducing Magenta.

Which takes me to Color Depth, which adjust the luminence for each color phase.
Color Depth> R -7 to +7
Color Depth> G -7 to +7
Color Depth> B -7 to +7
Color Depth> C -7 to +7
Color Depth> M -7 to +7
Color Depth> Y -7 to +7

If we were to lower the Magenta Color Depth to say -2 would this effect all colors? I assume it would.

If any clever color scientists would like to offer advice on how i could lower the Magenta very subtly it would be much appreciated.

P>S at this stage I'm not looking to do it in post like Resolve. This is more for offloading to a client.

Cheers

Color Depth is not going to subtract magenta, just make it lighter or darker.
I think what you want to do is go to WB Shift, which is 2 menu items below Color Depth in the Picture Profile menu. Once there, go to CC[MG/GR]. Negative values make the image reduce magenta, while positive values increase it. Dialing this down to -1 might give you exactly what you are looking for.

I will say that Color Depth is where you can fine tune the color science of the camera to suit your taste or mimic other cameras. I used a vectorscope/waveform and a side-by-side test to replicate the look of my GH4 on the FS5. It involved adjusting Phase, Color Depth, Saturation and WB Shift.

But after all that work, I find that shooting SLOG-3 and using the LC709a LUT looks better, so that's what I mostly use now, and add the LUT in post, or bake it in on the Shogun.

dvbrother, thank you very much for your advice. Much appreciated. I will give it a go and see how it works.

I too normally use a LC709a LUT but for this particular situation which is dull to go into Im needing an in camera tweak.

Thanks dvdbrother :)

The Color Depth controls are a vector gamma adjustment i.e the gamma of the chosen colour vector is adjusted so the richness of the vector is changed.

It's a shame Sony doesn't allow you to change the HSL of the individual vectors as that would allow some excellent grades to be concocted in camera.

Definitely use WB Shift CC MG/GR setting to take out magenta/green cast in the image, I used this a lot on the FS100 to take out the slight +green from the heliopan ND Fader.
