Color filters on spiral bulbs?

So I've invested in a bunch of spiral bulbs, because well I'm poor and they give a nice soft light. They're all 5500K. What's the best way to color them? I have the plastic sheets but is there paint or something one could put on them?

Just have them in my studio mounted in lamp holders, nothing fancy.

Gels are the standard for changing colour temp. Paint is opaque, otherwise it doesn't cover, so wipes out what feeble light comes out of CFLs. You can dye them, which is common for orange and reds, but nobody makes pale colour dye for this purpose. It's also mega expensive stuff. Are you mixing them with tungsten? If so because they will be brighter, it might be simpler to gel those back to blue. CFLs are pretty dull things, so losing more light is not really a good move.
