color correction

in a thread i posted back in dec. i was asking about doing editin & color correction on my computer monitor. i was told that would not be a good idea because of this

A computer monitor is not a good place to judge color correction, especially with NTSC DV. You'd be far better off previewing to a TV and using color bars to calibrate it as best you can. A computer monitor can display a far higher resolution and many, many more colors, so you won't be getting an accurate view of your final delivery. You may end up with very unpleasant surprises when you try to watch on a TV.

The best option, if you can afford it, would be a professional CRT NTSC monitor.

so if i get a high resolution CRT NTSC monitor, wont i get the same out come?

or should i not get a high resolution monitor?

I use a Samsung 42in plasma tv for my monitor and it works great for color work. The model I have comes with a blue-gun mode which makes calibration a snap.

the monitor i`m getting for almost nothing is the (JVC Color 15" High Resolution Video Monitor TM-H150CG). it has more than 750 lines of resolution with over 750 lines of horizontal resolution. it also has the blue gun as well. so this should work well then right?

also will this give me a true representation of what my dvds should look like?

whats the proper way to hook up this monitor for color correction and editing?

so sorry for all the questions but i`m knew at this stuff.
