ok, so i'm putting together my system and am trying to figure out how I want to go about handling color correction. Now I can't afford a true NTSC monitor so I know it won't be TRUE color correction, but something is better than nothing right?
okay, so I am trying to figure out if a LCD computer monitor using DVI that is 1900x1200 (w/e) (the ones labeled as HD) is the same as correcting to an LCD HD TV that supports 1080i thru the use of the $250 black magic HDMI out card.
and then, if the answer is just to get the LCD computer monitor with DVI that is "HD" what do I get? I've been reading about how you should get S-IPS for true color and that "some" of the Dell monitors are, but some aren't. No one seems to know from what I've read. I asked apple and they didn't know what S-IPS was. sigh.
then, if I'm looking at an LCD HDTV, i see something that says it does 1080i but the resolution of the TV is like 1300xsomething??? weird.
so my questions are:
is color correcting to an HD monitor thru DVI the same as doing it with HDTV with HDMI?
How can I tell if a monitor is S-IPS, and is this really that important?
My budget is between $600-$1000, please help me make the right choice!
oh, and can all of this be a moot point if i just get any monitor that does above 1900px and just get a color spider?
(p.s. I will be connecting this to a MAC PRO with the ATI raedon x1900, I already have a Dell 20" at 1680x1050.)
Thanks!
