Color Correction Monitor Help

Ok, So I just bought a $3000 editing monitor and I am having problems.
The monitor is color balanced or I think it is anyway. I followed directions and did what I was told but footage that looked good on my regular TV now looks like crap on this. I don't get it. Everything looks washed out. Any suggestions?

Televisions are almost NEVER adjusted properly. And every one is adjusted differently to suit the owner.

All you can do is provide video that is properly balanced/corrected and hope for the best at the consumer end of things.

That is normal.

In my experience, home TVs tend to have the saturation and contrast cranked up. They also tend to be calibrated a little warmer.

Depending on your end-audience, you may need to compensate. This is the nature of any "reference" system, including audio monitoring/mixing.
