color correcting un-adjacent clips

When I go into Avid's color correcting mode, I get 3 panes: the previous view/clip; the current view/clip; and the next view/clip. The idea is the one in the middle ("current clip") is the one I'm affecting by selecting color correction. Often, I'm trying to match skin tone between adjacent clips, and I can use the match color feature. But (and here's my question) when I want to match my current clip to one that is NOT adjacent (say it's 2 minutes back in my timeline), how do I get it into the viewer/window beside the current clip so I can use match color between them?

Thanks!

Usually above the three monitors it says "Previous" "Current" and "Next"
You can click on those and select whatever you want from the menu. In your case you would select "Sequence" so you can scrub through your timline and pull up the shot you want to see.

You can also set an image as your "Reference"

It should be in the same drop down menu as 'previous' 'next' 'sequence' etc.

Thanks. I found I could set a clip as the reference clip by "right clicking" within the window. That way it always stays to the left of my "current" window. Now if I can only figure out how to turn "reference" off! :-)
