Color correcting an over exposed scene

Hello,
I shot a scene inside a thrift store and forgot to change the exposure and it ended up overexposing the shot.
It's really bright and I'm trying to color correct it with FCP 7, but I'm not having a lot of luck.
There's almost no detail in the shelves and the brights are too bright.
I can kinda bring them down but thats about it.

Any help would be great.
Thanks!!

Post up a grab for us to take a look at. Also if you could list the camera it was shot on that may also have an impact.

If you have no detail in the overexposed areas chance are all is lost. You can doctor it a bit but you won't be able to come up with a correction that you or your client will be proud of. I suggest that you re-shoot the scene. Blame it on "green" tape, a magnetic distortion, sun spots . . . what ever. Even admitting that you screwed up is better than trying to save an un-savable shot.
Good luck,
Ken
