COLOR CARDS iPhone/iPad App

Hi Guys...

I've developed an iPhone/iPad app called COLOR CARDS.

COLOR CARDS

It's a photographers / videographers assistant tool for focus, white balance and color reference.

As a fellow DVXuser from way back I designed the concept when the iPad first came out ... (about 3 years ago).

Using it extensively myself during shoots for color reference, focus and white balance.

I'd love your feedback and maybe I can incorporate some of your ideas in future releases.

Cheers LeZ

To use an iPhone / iPad for a color reference, wouldn't you have to calibrate the display? You'd need some way to ensure that the colors you are trying to display are in fact displayed just the way you want them. How do you do that if you don't calibrate the display first? If you are calibrating, wouldn't I need to calibrate my display to match? If so, what procedure and equipment should I use to accomplish that?

That won't work for setting white balance - the light needs to come from whatever sources are lighting your subject, not from a screen emitting it's own light.

That will work for setting focus marks, the same as any focus chart image file loaded on said device.

I think if we need something like this in the device... so we can change the colour temp ... cheers LeZ

If you used the same iGadget as a reference during post-production, then the scheme is "self-calibrating".
