This has to do with the internal compression the camera does to the image to make the data fit onto a poor old DV tape. DV is only 3.5 mbs per second, so the camera throws away about 85 percent of the data to get it to fit. The color is compressed quite severely. All the pure color information is very low res.

So, in other words, your DVX is working fine for a DV camera. Don't shoot anything that has pure color, especially red. Stick to low chroma scenes. This is one of the limitations of DV compression, so ... deal with it.

If you want to shoot uncompressed and get access to all of the data the camera actually captures (at 28 mbs per sec), you have to use the Andromeda modification. It allows you to capture uncompressed color from a DVX. Check their site..

Go to the gallery section and look at the images there.

thank you matthew for the reply. i have two dvx. and this kind of bleeding doesnt occur before and the other camera works fine. i dont think it has to do with compression. but its somekind of stuff that happens to monitor when you do de gauss. is it posible that i place it on a strong magnetic field which cause this. is there a way to correct this on the menu. (some sort of de gauss). thank you very much

it looks terible. the color bleeds on the flesh tones as you can see. and in some other colors. is this a hardware problem or did i miss a setting. i did a reset already and nothing change.

mmm maybe it's me or my pc monitor, but i dont really see big evidence of a problem here..

anyway you may want to check your scene setting, and possibly restore it to the default config if it's been changed..

Yeah, that does look pretty nasty. I see all kinds of nasty pink fringing on the skin tones.
Unfortunatly I havn't seen anything like this before, it is not chromatic abberation, it is not from oversaturated colors, this looks like something new.

Wish I could help you better, but it's new to me.

Yeah, this is really strange. It only seems to afflict the faces. Those poor people look like zombies, with the purple tones creeping into their faces. How come there are no strange shifts anywhere else? Its like the camera knows what color skin is and makes a conscious effort to make it look like crap by introducing color shift and banding artifacts.

I think your DVX is possessed, man!

I don't know what to do in this situation. Ask barry green or someone who is an expert.

Holy Cow my dvx is possessed!
Kidding aside. Can someone enlighthen me on this, is
this a hardware problem or may it be to moisture or magnets getting
near the camera. I'm at lost as to how to fix this problem.

Hopefully someone can figure out whats wrong .

thanks guys for the responce.
