Color Bars seems misaligned - camera damaged?

Today I did a shoot and I saw some fringing effects. It seemed like one of the guns in my monitor was off. Or perhaps it was my camera. There was a slight double image seen on vertical edges and lines.
I took the camera home notice that the color bars do not meet up edge to edge. The effect is quite noticable if I look at the LCD screen on edge instead of straignt on. There are little gaps between bars or they overlap a bit. Is my camera damaged?

I doubt it is an issue. Here are some trouble shooting questions.

1) Does the fringing show up on the monitor on underscan and does it effect picture quality.

2) Can you see it when it is looked at in the NLE on frame view exported to Photoshop?

Edge errors could be an error in the record heads of you camera and may be significant, as heads can and do go bad, especially the small sized heads on modern camcorders. It cannot be a gun problem if it is on your LCD, since LCDs do not have guns. There are a few other engineering things it could be, but first see if it is a real problem, or simply the glass monitor starting to need its guns aligned.

Underscan didn't seem to make an image difference during the shoot. The double image was particularly visible on the monitor, although the guy on camera said everything looked normal to him.
I set up the camera, my monitor and a makeshift focus chart tonight. I see the slight double image on the monitor, but not on the camera LCD. I notice overlap on the color bars on camera and monitor, but not in the black & white ELF mode. I suspect that overlaping color bars are normal for this camera, but I would like an opinion on that.
When I put the monitor on underscan I get thin red, green and blue bars across the top, and a thin green bar on the left hand side of the monitor. I wonder if this is significant. I have an older refurbished Trinitron high resolution 13" monitor.
When the director puts this on his Vegas NLE system I imagine he will let me know if there is a double image. We had an actor in front of a dark background backlit with red and yellow light. The double image was quite visible on the monitor. I also noticed it between his dark suit coat and the white shirt he wore - in the area of his tie.

Export a single frame using quicktime and look at it in photoshop. A real problem will be exposed by the edge in Photoshop since you are looking at an entire two field frame as a single image.

My bet -- your monitor is starting to fritz. Here is what happens. A trinitron has three guns, each of which after some hinkyness and mumbojumbo shoot a beam of electrons through a choke, through a screen mask, and each hit an element on the screen phosphor. It is possible for those guns to get out of alignment (there are lots of different variations on this theme). Sometimes the result is a washed out patch of the screen, sometimes color ghosting, sometimes a yellow tinge to part of the screen, and sometimes edge tear.

You may simply need to demag your screen. You may need to use your blue gun and reset the guns against a color bar source. Your guns may be over targeted (people like to spread their image out and sometimes that causes trouble). And possibly, this is the sign that your choke or one of the guns is dying.

How are the colorbars in B&W on yr trinitron monitor?
